Wandel der Bergwiesen im Vessertal

The Thüringer Wald’s Mountain Meadows, renowned for their rich biodiversity, face a pressing need for a comprehensive strategy that addresses the management and conservation challenges inherent to these environments. The traditional utilization of these meadows has dwindled, prompting a search for alternative. One of these includes community-involved practices that can sustainably support the local ecosystem.

The exhibition showcases the evolution of the mountain meadows of the village of Vesser, spanning from before the Deutsche Demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic) to the present. It delves into the challenges and changes through the accounts of the locals who have spent almost all their life in Vesser.

In addition to historical and ecological insights, the exhibition will discuss potential strategies that could help in the conservation of the meadows. It is important to note that these measures are not limited to Vesser but can be applicable on a larger scale.  By encouraging community participation and sustainable practices, the exhibition seeks to foster a collective effort in preserving these vital ecosystems for the future.
